Healing Words 3.28.2018

At the beginning of this journey, I didn't know how emotionally and physically trying it would be. I didn't know how much I had to grow and the capacity I had to change.

When I look at the community of warriors, or maybe I prefer the term goddesses (male and non-gender conforming included), I am amazed by our strength and grace. From the trials of treatment, to the fight to be recognized, to the personal growth in the face of adversity, you think we're not goddesses? Try us.

Thank you Margaret Atwood for this quote:
You think I'm not a goddess?

If you had asked me four years ago if I was a goddess, I would've laughed. But as Maya Angelou said, "Your crown has been bought and paid for. Put it on your head and wear it."

Hope is my favorite four letter word. When you are going through any challenging situation in your life you must cling to any amount of hope that you have.

In this quote Shane J. Lopez lists the four core beliefs of hopeful people. Seems like a good prescription for life.

For my inaugural #healingwords post, I thought I would share the words that turned the way I felt about illness completely upside down.

Not long after I was diagnosed with Lyme disease, I was scrolling through Pinterest and saw this quote by Caroline Myss:
When illness is part of your spiritual journey...

I had no idea who Caroline Myss was and I'd never thought of illness as a vessel of change. The moment I saw this quote my entire mentality shifted from martyr to student. I realized this illness was a transformative force to take me from the stagnant place I was in to the unbounded place I was supposed to be.

Right away I knew some of the changes I would have to make in order to heal. As if by magic when I made those changes, healing started to happen.

Because of these words I continue to ask myself every day, "What am I here to do?" and try to act in a way that leads to me to that purpose.

For those of you who don't know who she is, Caroline Myss is an author and speaker in the fields of human consciousness, spirituality and mysticism, health, energy medicine, and the science of medical intuition. Her books are truly life-changing.
