Hi Friends,

As a Gemini, I love change. June is a time of many transitions: the school year comes to a close, spring becomes summer, and the light peaks before turning towards the dark.

This is also a transition time for me. In July I will graduate with my MFA in Creative Writing. It's a bittersweet moment. There is relief in completing three years of consistent work, but sadness in the program coming to an end.

Though, endings are also beginnings. I'm starting to imagine my post-MFA life. I'm in the early stages of merging my love of therapy and creative writing.

With Love,

Kerry

Poetry Is Therapy Little Free Library:

[Doesn't exist yet] but it will soon. My plan is to have a Little Free Poetry Therapy Library to bring together my loves of personal exploration and poetry. I hope to find ways to bring more attention to poetry and the ways reading & writing poetry is therapeutic.

Current Therapist's Book Club Selection:

I belong to a book club with other therapists, though we rarely read anything related to therapy. We gravitate toward nonfiction, mystery/suspense/thriller, and upmarket fiction and take recommendations.

Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell

"England, 1580: The Black Death creeps across the land, an ever-present threat, infecting the healthy, the sick, the old and the young alike. The end of days is near, but life always goes on.

A young Latin tutor—penniless and bullied by a violent father—falls in love with an extraordinary, eccentric young woman. Agnes is a wild creature who walks her family’s land with a falcon on her glove and is known throughout the countryside for her unusual gifts as a healer, understanding plants and potions better than she does people. Once she settles with her husband on Henley Street in Stratford-upon-Avon, she becomes a fiercely protective mother and a steadfast, centrifugal force in the life of her young husband, whose career on the London stage is just taking off when his beloved young son succumbs to sudden fever.

Hamnet is mesmerizing, seductive, impossible to put down—a magnificent leap forward from one of our most gifted novelists."

Quote to Remember:

"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves…Live the questions now. Perhaps you will gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer."
- Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters to a Young Poet

    Welcome

I'm Kerry (She/Her/Hers) and I am a licensed therapist, group facilitator, poet, writer, & speaker. This is a place to acknowledge and validate our suffering and trauma, while also learning how to turn toward aliveness and spaciousness.
