Today is National Haiku Day. Haiku poetry has had a special place in my heart ever since I took a class called Global Haiku Tradition in college. In that class I learned how a few short lines can convey the same thing as a thousand words. This haiku by Japanese haiku master Kobayashi Issa speaks to the mystery of life and the beauty of a single moment. It's about being grateful to be alive and aware of the beauty all around you. "Healing Words" is an ongoing series with the intention of once a day shifting focus away from suffering and onto healing. Healing is a daily practice of listening to your inner voice and turning pain into purpose. Please feel free to share words that have helped you heal or your thoughts on these healing words.
