In 2013 my husband and I traveled to Ireland. When we were driving in The Ring of Kerry we saw a homemade sign that advertised the most beautiful views on The Ring. We took a detour and pulled up to a small farmhouse. A man came out of the house, collected 8 euro from us, and pointed to a path. We walked for a long time, pondering whether or not we'd been duped. Then, at the top of the hill the most beautiful rocky cliffs we'd ever seen came into view. I think about that experience often and how we took a chance, followed our intuition, didn't turn back when it seemed futile, and were rewarded in the end. Healing happens on the same trajectory. Challenges along the journey, make the destination more gratifying. The best part is once you've walked the path, you can never go back. Your perspective is changed forever, and you will always appreciate the view. "Healing Words" is an ongoing series with the intention of once a day shifting focus away from suffering and onto healing. Healing is a daily practice of listening to your inner voice and turning pain into purpose. Please feel free to share words that have helped you heal or your thoughts on these healing words.
