Life is often a paradox. In heaviness, there is lightness. We use much of our energy avoiding things that are difficult—confronting your boss, opening up to your spouse, admitting you made a mistake, getting on the airplane, going to the first meeting...When we pull away from things that are uncomfortable, we don't gain comfort, we lose power. But it's not easy, in fact, it's the work of a lifetime. It takes practice. Daring is a muscle and the more we use it, the easier it becomes—the lighter you become, the more authentic you become. These words are from Lissa Rankin, author of Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof that You Can Heal Yourself. Healing Words is an ongoing series with the intention of once a day shifting focus away from suffering and onto healing. Healing is a daily practice of listening to your inner voice and turning pain into purpose. Please feel free to share words that have helped you heal or your thoughts on these healing words.
