When we decide to make a change, we usually decide to change everything (think about the last time you made New Year's Resolutions). The problem is that strategy rarely works. We're creatures of habit and not wired to overhaul everything at once. That's why I like this plan...add one thing at a time, reach mastery, and then add something else. It works because when you start small you're more likely to see success which motivates you to keep going. Don't overwhelm yourself with too much change at one time. In the long run you'll do better if you change one habit at a time. Today's words are by Rainbow Rowell, author of Carry On. Healing Words of the Day is an ongoing series with the intention of once a day shifting focus away from suffering and onto healing. Healing is a daily practice of listening to your inner voice and turning pain into purpose. Please feel free to share words that have helped you heal or your thoughts on these healing words.
