Hi Friends,

This has been a big summer for me. On July 19th I graduated with my MFA from the Rainier Writing Workshop at Pacific Lutheran University. Along with my cohort, we celebrated three years of hard work and dedication.

There has been a lot of celebrating, a little traveling, and mostly finding my way back to some semblance of a routine.

With Love,

Kerry (she/her)

Little Free Poetry Therapy Library:

[Doesn't exist yet] but it will soon. My plan is to have a Little Free Poetry Therapy Library called The Poetry Cottage. I hope to find ways to bring more attention to poetry and the ways reading & writing poetry can be therapeutic.

Current Therapist's Book Club Selection:

I belong to a book club with other therapists, though we rarely read anything related to therapy. We gravitate toward nonfiction, mystery/suspense/thriller, and upmarket fiction and take recommendations.

The Wedding by Vandana Nair

"Dr. Ahilya Kapoor dreads heading to her hometown in India for the lavish wedding of Radhika, her young cousin, who's captured the bachelor of the season. Entangled between two worlds, Ahilya's independent career as an epidemiologist for the WHO causes constant friction with her family's desire for her to 'settle down and marry.' During the festivities, Ahilya finds herself drawn to a handsome cardiologist from London. She envisages the possibility of a future that weaves her two worlds in harmony. But, just as things start going well, a mysterious illness sweeps through the gathering and Ahilya is wrapped up in events that will change everyone’s lives. Full of sharp wit, familial drama, cultural clashes, and unexpected encounters, The Wedding explores the complexities of tradition and modernity, and the universal search for love and belonging in a time of transition and turmoil."
