I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with an office in West Seattle. I am a self-employed therapist in private practice.
A good fit for my practice is a client who is highly motivated and committed to regular weekly sessions. There is no timeline for therapy; however, I use a long-term therapeutic approach (think months instead of weeks).
I consider myself to be a somatic therapist and practice based on a modality called Somatic Transformation. I also incorporate mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, and psychodynamic theory.
This 9 minute video describes the basis for the therapeutic interventions of somatic therapy: Trauma and the Nervous System: A Polyvagal Perspective.
I serve clients ages 18-55. I serve people of all gender identities; however, I predominantly work with women and clients who identify as women, as well as, those who are gender non-conforming.
Specialties: Anxiety, ADHD, Chronic/Complex Illness, Life Transitions, Marginalized/Oppressed Populations, Developmental Trauma, Chronic Stress, Mindfulness, Somatic, Spirituality. I do not specialize in bipolar disorder or personality disorders.
I am a Lyme-Literate Therapist with extensive knowledge on the challenges of Lyme disease and treatment.
-People who have frequent suicidal thoughts or behaviors.
-People who experience breaks with reality.
For people who at times need a higher level of care, I suggest looking into a modality called Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) or a person who specializes in the treatment of a particular mental health issue.
As a cisgendered, heterosexual, white, straight-sized person I have access to multiple layers of privilege. I am committed to continually examine and challenge my internal biases and recognize the ways in which my privilege may impact the therapeutic relationship. Social justice, equity, and inclusion are important tenets of my practice and I will continually work to be a better ally and repair harm when it happens.
New Client Inquiries: my preferred method of contact is email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please specify a referral source (person or website). Please note: Calling or emailing does not initiate a therapist-client relationship.
Unfortunately I am not taking new clients at this time.
Referrals: Mindful Therapy Group is a local network of hundreds of therapists in Western Washington and surrounding states. It is a good place to start if you are having difficult locating a therapist.
