I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with an office in West Seattle. I am a self-employed therapist in private practice. A good fit for my practice is a client who is highly motivated and committed to regular weekly sessions. There is no timeline for therapy; however, I use a long-term therapeutic approach (think months instead of weeks). I consider myself to be a somatic therapist and practice based on a modality called Somatic Transformation. I also incorporate mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, and psychodynamic theory. This 9 minute video describes the basis for the therapeutic interventions of somatic therapy: Trauma and the Nervous System: A Polyvagal Perspective. I serve clients ages 18-60. I serve people of all gender identities; however, I predominantly work with clients who identify as women, as well as, those who are gender non-conforming. Specialties: Anxiety, ADHD, Chronic/Complex Illness, Life Transitions, Developmental Trauma, Chronic Stress, Mindfulness, Somatic, Spirituality. I do not specialize in bipolar disorder or personality disorders. I am a Lyme-Literate Therapist with extensive knowledge on the challenges of Lyme disease and treatment. Limitations:
For people who at times need a higher level of care, I suggest looking into a modality called Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) or a person who specializes in the treatment of a particular mental health issue. As a cisgendered, heterosexual, white, straight-sized person I have access to multiple layers of privilege. I am committed to continually examine and challenge my internal biases and recognize the ways in which my privilege may impact the therapeutic relationship. Social justice, equity, and inclusion are important tenets of my practice and I will continually work to expand my awareness and understanding of these issues. When I am responsible for harm, I will do my best to acknowledge it and work toward accountability and repair. |
